I read Nate Silver's piece and totally agree. We judge politicians' legacy not by their character but by the laws and regulations and judges they bequit to future generations. RBG T-shirts are not what Ginsberg will be remembered by.

Yeah, get Justice Sotomayor to step down now and confirm Merrick Garland (it's his turn!) to the Court.

Yes, it may well be that Merrick is not the chosen, but who will this group of feckless democrats ram through to save our "democracy"? To employ this strategy is to prostrate us to the whims of not only the Democrats in corporate pockets, but Senator Sinema too.

With Justice Jackson expressing worry that the First Amendment interfered with a government's ability to control discourse, what will the next savior proclaim?

This country needs a several new political parties with a whole new class of politicians that have a laser focus on the plight of us, the citizens.

To the pundits, that say my cynicism regarding the ability of our current political class to address any important issue gets me my predicted bad result and is ergo my fault, let me say this: sod off!

Discussions about politically pressuring justices to retire are extremely inappropriate not to mention unbelievably tacky. Which makes this the least of the neolibcon establishment's sins.

I would vote for ANYONE who credibly called for an IRS audit of our entire judiciary. The conflicts of interest alone should get most of them disbarred. Judges and elected officials should not be allowed to invest in anything other than government bonds.

I have become anti Dem. It's their fault, they chose Wall Street over workers too many times.

I leave this to others to decide. Which is the greater peril to our democratic / republican form of government: life tenure for Supreme Court Justices or the Electoral College?
