In 2016, we ThePeople wanted, needed Bernie Sanders (with all his wort's included) but we were given Hillary Clinton who was destined to lose, why? The rust belt! Need I say more? Donald Trump would have been badly beaten by Sanders and become nothing but a political footnote in US history but that didn't happen. One thing to say: Thank you Democrats for giving us Donald Trump!
You are just one of millions of cookie cutter American political/tribal poo flinging and blaming bloggers who can't get past his own self importance due to being indoctrinated in American exceptionalism.
Left - Right - 'Independent' Americans, especially white Americans, are all the same.
This shit you think is important does not matter at all, at all.
I see no hope for the Democratic Party until it reckons with this simple question: how crappy must a candidate be to lose to Donald J Trump?
In 2016 Ms Clinton held rallies that would struggle to fill a few Chipotle restaurants. Bernie Sanders was filling stadiums. Was Russian interference filling the stadiums for Bernie?
I was distressed to see Mr Zirin give credence to that dangerous chestnut, Russian interference. The supposed evidence for such interference is buttressed by testimony from a proven liar like James Clapper among many others.
Three of our existential risks are nuclear war, a global pandemic, and climate change. I am not too far out on a limb to predict that the Musk administration will do nothing to abate the latter two. But the Musk administration's aims of negotiations with Russia are chiefly to both isolate and vanquish China by purloining the resources of our hemisphere.
We need reform yesterday. But there is no future where I see the Democratic Party providing the constructive steps to deescalate from war mongering and addressing the health and well-being of all the globe. Unrestrained corporate capitalism must be curtailed. Democrats won't do that for who then would pick their candidates?
My Medical Society once came to me for a donation to its lobbying efforts. I asked the representative “Who will receive the money?” His answer was succinct and to the point.
“Incumbents,” he said. I then asked about some particular congressman who criticized our work. The reply, “He’ll get extra; how will we otherwise have any influence on him.”
That answer was frank, at least, if not honest. I haven’t provided any contribution, then or since. And until then I had been too naive about how the game works.
The way I see it, we lost the FDR state during Reagan and Clinton. DOGE is just sifting through the debris. We screamed at the top of our lungs during Reagan, and were told to STFU during Clinton, when something might’ve actually been saved…but he ended Welfare As We Know It, and consolidated the media in the Telecommunications Act of 96. The only thing left after that was banking (done at the 11th hour of Clinton’s 2nd term) and Social Security (which was interrupted by a blowjob).
Then in 2007-08 we still managed to muster “hope” and vote for Obama and he immediately screwed us every which way.
No one I know who’s been fighting these fights for all these years, has any fucks left to give. Those who are outraged are my low-info-voting in-laws who [bless their hearts] think USAID delivers bananas to hungry children.
The world we knew is gone and we either build another or mail off for a few doses of Quietus.
Young John Connor, shocked: "You were gonna KILL him!
Terminator: "Of course. I'm a Terminator."

Yes the planet spins on American politics.
Americans are just so important.
If an American farts, it's breaking news.
You are not a collapse blogger.

There's a lot more of this. James Carville in the NYTimes: Dems should "roll over and play dead."

Fascinating, Bruce. At least the donors admit the bribe. Thanks.
