Well, AI development could happen here in the US. DeepSeek is open source so a fork of the code could be a an academic exercise. Instead of Stargate, grant funds for AI development insisting upon free software licenses and prioritizing the minimization of energy consumption. Couple this with developing open GPU chip designs and do the fabrication here. All this will take decades but would provide our young comrades with a future that is not a form of indenture to the billionaires.

All of this AI talk though does ignore a crucial constraint. Resources are finite on our favorite planet. A healthy population is not compatible with every technological aspiration.

Another Lena Khan quote, re-proven accurate by DeepSeek's emergence::

"To stay ahead globally, we don’t need to protect our monopolies from innovation—

we need to protect innovation from our monopolies.

We need to choose competition over national champions.”

Yes, I know, but you kept posting "Lena" Khan.

I am guessing that that this ws sepllcheck in action. If AI is so damn smart, why can't they make a spellcheck that works? Mine continually "corrects" correct text into incorrect text.
